Trends to Try: Mom Jeans

My second edition of Trends to Try featuring the ever so popular "mom jean"

I am back with another trends to try post! This is by far one of the things I am most excited for as I begin year number two of SAVO + JUNE! I am very excited to create content that is both something I love and useful! There are so many trends that come and go that we miss out on simply because we either are afraid of our comfort zone or just flat out have no idea how to make it your own. While I love trying a trend, I tend to have a more simplistic style so don't expect me to hop on board to anything and everything. For week two I am giving you...the mom jean.

I have to say, this is not for everyone and definitely not the MOST flattering of trends. I am only 5'3 so I had to find a pair that would work for me and that alone was a job in itself. I ended up picking a pair from Zara. They are very high waisted and I really liked the medium wash of the color. Like I said being 5'3 I cut about 3 inches off the bottoms to create an uneven hem (2 trends in 1 whaaaat).

Take a look at how I styled these from day to night!

When I am running around n the weekend, or after work I tend to keep my look very simple. I paired a simple white crop top from Forever 21 with my thin knit BCBG MAXAZRIA cardigan, Fossil crossbody + smartwatch (have not been able to take this thing of) and a pair of white slip-on sneakers.

I let the jeans be the key piece in this look, by keeping the rest of my outfit minimal I can highlight the mom jeans without doing too much!

For this look, I swapped out my crop top for this sequin bell sleeve top from Zara. When I saw this top I immediately wanted to throw a pair of cutoff shorts and booties with it BUT it being February I needed to hang on to that for summer. What I liked most about this top was that although sequins are so festive, pairing it with a pair of casual mom jeans makes this piece year round, I love the play of very feminine pieces dressed down. I slipped on my go to nude heels from Steve Madden, added a silver clutch and the look is done!

Hope you guys enjoyed the second post in my Trends to Try series, looking forward to more in the future! Do not hesitate to comment or request new trends you would like to see!
