How to Style a Printed Jacket
When it comes to style I am a minimalist at heart. I stay tried and true to my high waisted straight jeans with a plain white t-shirt. All other accompanying pieces are chosen based on my mood and destination. But for the most part, you can find me in a pair of 501's any day. I clarify this because there are two things that can break my minimalistic outlook on my wardrobe, and that is shoes and jackets.
There are endless ways to make a statement in your wardrobe, but for me, it is without a doubt the most impactful through a good shoe or a statement jacket. Since by nature the core of almost all my outfits is basics, I love to make an impact with a great jacket. I have been collecting blazers, bombers, faux fur, trenches, I cannot get enough.
My number one tip for stying a statement jacket... stick to its color story! For example, the color blocked faux fur jacket I am wearing includes white, black, and a warm chestnut brown. To keep the attention on the jacket I paired with a denim (Levi 501's) and white Adidas sneakers. The white sneaker with a subtle hint of black in the stripes plays nicely into the jacket creating a cohesive look. As far as accessories are concerned I kept them very simple with a black round bag and a pair of black round sunnies from Rayban.
Try to bring in the colors from your jacket (or statement piece) subtlely into your look. Your best bet, if you are too nervous to play with color, will be to stick with your basics (I wish I got paid for the number of times I have written that out)! But in all honesty, this holds true when playing with prints. If I were to dress this look up I would stick with my denim and white t-shirt (not shown but worn underneath) and opt out my white sneakers for a black sock boot
