Red Bank, NJ: Gov. Murphy, Walk Your Talk – Rally Finale

Published Aug 2, 2022
Food & Water Watch and EmpowerNJ are co-organizing “Gov. Murphy: Walk Your Talk on Climate,” a walk and caravan for clean air and climate justice August 16–20. Over the course of these five days, we’ll travel from Newark to Elizabeth, to Woodbridge, to Old Bridge, and finally to Red Bank, just across the river from Governor Murphy’s home, for a BIG closing rally. **Join us in Red Bank on Saturday, August 20, for a finale rally concluding the five days of action to stop fossil fuel projects in New Jersey!** The walk and caravan will link seven proposed fossil fuel projects in New Jersey that local groups have been fighting for years. These projects would be massive polluters, increasing New Jersey’s greenhouse gas emissions by as much as 38% and putting people’s health and lives at risk! Four of the seven projects are facing final permit decisions in the coming months, so our actions will call on Governor Murphy to stop to all of these dirty, dangerous and unnecessary projects NOW! Every day along the walk, we’ll hold daily community meetings, rallies, vigils, and other actions along with local groups. These events will bring attention to the determined struggles being waged throughout the state for clean air, healthy communities, and a rapid shift away from fossil fuels to jobs-creating clean renewable energy solutions. Despite his strong rhetoric on climate change, Governor Murphy has not yet used his power to stop the seven major fossil fuel expansion projects moving forward in our state. We say, “Governor Murphy, walk your talk on climate!” If you aren’t planning to walk to Red Bank, you can utilize our carpool page to get there: //fwaction.us/Carpool2Redbank *Check out other Walk Your Talk actions here: //www.mobilize.us/fww/?tag_ids=20693*
